What's this course for?
To enable you to work as an assistant to a qualified swimming teacher, providing a limited range of basic skills whilst under supervision. This course is a necessity for those wanting to become swimming teachers.

The syllabus?
Covers:
Basic technical knowledge for the area you want to teach in
Knowledge of health and safety in the swimming pool environment
Knowledge and skills necessary to assist in conducting a session
Effective communication skills
Health and well being and swimming activity
Motivation skills
Knowledge of the ASA and ISTC

Is there an exam?
Yes, there is a short question paper at the end of the course and students must complete a log book whilst on the course with the assistance of the course tutor. Your teaching skills will be continually assessed and supported by the tutor throughout the course.

Who should attended?
Anyone with an interest in swimming and a desire to teach swimming in either a voluntary or paid capacity. Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years at the commencement of the course.

What's this course for?
To enable you to work as a qualified swimming teacher. Teach a range of abilities from non-swimmers to early competition standard, supervise and organise assistant teachers.

The syllabus?
Covers:
Knowledge of how to prepare sessions
How to manage sessions
Dealing with accidents and emergencies
Effective child protection
How to support the learning process.

Prerequisites?
Candidates must be 18 years at commencement of the course
Hold an ASA assistant teachers (level 1) certificate
Hold an ASA preliminary teachers certificate
Purchase a ASA Teachers certificate Logbook prior to the course

Is there an exam?
Yes, and the course tutor will assess your logbook and continually assess your teaching skills throughout the course.
