Appointed persons basic first aid
What is this course for?
Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (1981) an employer must ensure that there is adequate First Aid provision in the workplace. This is established by risk assessments.
If your risk assessment identifies that you have no need to provide a qualified First Aider you may wish to train someone to be the designated "Appointed Person" for your work place.
The Health and Safety Executive recommends that an 'Appointed Person' is trained in basic First Aid and their duties as an Appointed Person. We recommend a 3 - 4 hour training course is attended to meet these requirements.
Appointed Persons can be given responsibility for ordering and replenishing the First Aid kits and they can also complete the Accident Report form/book and phoning for the ambulance.
