What's this course for?
In 2004 Ofsted issued new guidelines for workers caring for children
in the absence of their parents. This course is designed to meet
the requirements for this report.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for people who care for children in the workplace
(including in a self employer arrangement) where the parents do not
stay with the child.
What's in the syllabus?
This course is designed to run for a minimum of 12 hours normally
over two days. The qualification is valid for three years.
The students will learn about:
Risk assessments appropriate to their workplace
Contents of First Aid Kits
Recording accidents and incidents
Resuscitation of children and infants
Management of choking
Medical conditions common in children and infants
Is there an exam?
No, the course is continually assessed by the tutor.

What's
this course for?
This course is aimed at those who work or volunteer in the community
or anyone who wishes to learn a comprehensive syllabus of first aid
for the whole family (including children and infant resuscitation skills)
and do not require the HSE four day First Aid at Work qualification.
What's
in the syllabus?
This course is designed to run for a minimum of 16 hours, 20 including
child and infant. The qualification is valid for three years.
The students will learn about:
Incident management
Contents of First Aid Kits
Managment of an unconscious casualty
Control of bleeding
Resuscitation of children and infants
Resuscitaion of adults
Management of choking
Medical conditions common in adults
Medical conditions common in children and infants
Incident management
Is there an exam?
Yes
The course is externally assessed this consists of:
Practical CPR assessment and casualty management skills
Management of bleeding
Theory test (multiple choice question paper)
